Let me ask you a question.
What do you do with your dog’s food after you open the bag?
Do you keep it in the original bag until you run out or do you dump it all inside some kind of container?
Well, if you just rip open the dog food bag and leave it that way, then I’ll tell you my reasons why you need to stop that now and what containers to buy. After all, stale food is no fun to anybody, even a dog!

Why Do I Need To Put My Dog’s Food Inside A Metal Container?
Well, technically, you don’t HAVE to use a metal container.
That’s just my personal recommendation.
I think that plastic is less safe and sanitary and some studies have shown that there is cause for concern.
Over time, the fats and oils from the kibble start to oxidize and grow invisible molds. Not to mention that the plastic container will eventually leech out harmful chemicals such as BPA and phthalates.
Because plastic is a porous material, meaning it has lots of tiny holes in it, it begins to harbor nasty oils and fats from old kibble that will eventually contaminate the next bag of food that is put in.
Metal and glass pet food containers are much safer and do not leech harmful chemicals or harbor nasty oils and fats. So ditch the plastic container and make the switch to a safer and easier to clean alternative.
