Anyone that has known big chewers like Rottweilers, Pitbulls, German Shepherds, and Mastiffs know that finding the right dog toy to stand up against those massive jaws is a feat in itself.
These big guys can CHEW, and they LOVE to chew.
Before getting your furniture and home ripped completely apart, you’ll need the best dog toys for heavy chewers like Rottweilers and Pitbulls.
My Rottweilers cost me an arm and a leg in dog toys.
Just because a label says “indestructible”, really doesn’t mean it is.

I bought a good-looking nylon bone once that said “dog-safe and indestructible, return damaged bone for your money back”, so I got it!
Sounded good didn’t it?
I left my Rottie girl alone with it for an hour and came back to NO BONE! She ate it all. Return WHAT bone?!
Finding quality chew toys for powerful chewers is a never-ending battle, right up there with redirecting their attention to their own toys to save your house and belongings.
After many years of trial and error (and hefty toy bills), here’s a list of my favorite dog toys that lasted much longer than “average” toys between my Rottie’s teeth.
Top 2 Dog Toys For Heavy Chewers
The KONG – Classic
An oldie but a goodie, the original “tough dog” toy, the Kong, is my top pick because of its longevity, durable rubber composition, and various sizes.
Around since the 1970s, I have used many a Kong to bring up my large dogs and keep them occupied for hours.
You really can’t go wrong with the original bad-ass dog toy that has been around for 40 years!
It will undoubtedly meet the physiological demands of the dog while also giving mental stimulation, perplexing them as to how to get treats or peanut butter out.
This is one of the few dog toys I bought multiples of.
They withstood my Rottie girl’s attentions but when my boy got into it, it wasn’t long before the Kong started to chip off and the moment a small flaw appears, he attacks it with all his heart and I know that soon it would be in pieces.
My pooch used to have this insane hyper-focused expression on her face, when she sees me walk to the freezer, which usually means I’m taking out her giant size Kong filled with frozen peanut butter, just so I can go out for a few hours and she won’t tear up the house.
This is an excellent toy to load with food to keep big chewers entertained.
Stuff it with goodies, peanut butter, or cheese whiz, and you have got yourself an instant boredom reliever.
Your dog will love this toy if he or she is a chewer or chaser!
Otterly Pets Puppy Dog Pet Rope
Otterly Pets Puppy Dog Pet Rope
Rope toys are usually a canine favorite, and this strong collection of durable rope toys is ideal for playing tug-of-war.
These tough rope dog toys are mostly two inches thick and ideal for aggressive chewers.
Made entirely of cotton, these materials are safer and endure longer than some other materials on the market.
As they are soft your big chewer will love to chew on them, effectively cleaning their gums and teeth and promoting good dental health.
Easily machine washable, this Otterly rope was one of my Rottie’s top toys, and the invaluable cleaning it gave her teeth made this money well spent.
A must-have for any big dog that likes a good, vigorous game of tug-of-war!

Goughnuts Dog Ring Chew Toy is one of the greatest options when it comes to durable chew toys for dogs. As your dog chews and plays, the round ring rotates around, preventing your dog from repeatedly chewing the same location and spreading out the wear.
Very, very few rubber chew toys will last as long as this one.
If you are a dog parent who has spent a lot of money on non-destructible, strong toys that claim to last even with aggressive chewers and haven’t found anything, this product is for you.

This Orbee-Tuff Diamond Plate Ball is particularly durable, with a soft exterior that won’t be too harsh on your pup’s teeth or gums.
Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff toys are among the best available for your dog. Claiming to be the toughest orbee-tuff ball which is designed particularly for heavy chewers, they are hollow and flexible, allowing dogs to gnaw on them and use their jaws.
This ball, with a 3-inch diameter, is less likely to be a choking danger than tennis balls.
It also bounces efficiently, making it ideal for throwing and retrieving, enabling interactive play between you and your canine companion.
This dog toy will undoubtedly endure hours of gnawing, chasing, catching, and fetching!
IMK9 Indestructible Frisbee
For the pooches that love to run and chase, you’ll need a tough enough disc or frisbee to stand up to their jaw strength.
Unlike hard, molded plastic Frisbee, this flexible Dog Frisbee Toy will not break or split when chewed.
It’s also way thinner and lighter than the other ones you might have used, so it flies considerably better.
Playing with this a frisbee is a lot of fun and good exercise for both you and your dog, and a great way to spend more outdoorsy time.

This natural, durable rubber chew toy is made of food-grade nylon and has passed more than a thousand tests amongst voracious chewers.
Designed for medium to large dogs, it is virtually indestructible and will hold up to the attentions of all dogs but the keenest chewers.
The rubber spikes positioned in the center of the bone provide dental cleaning for the teeth as they chew.
This beef-flavored toy was the favorite of one of my Golden Retrievers, but whether it can stand up to my Rottie boy’s chewing remains to be seen.
Smaller Rotties and Pitbulls might do just fine with this toy, and my Retriever was so in love with it that he took it everywhere to keep himself occupied and entertained.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Makes A Good Toy For Heavy Chewers?
Anyone who has ever owned a dog knows that not all toys are created equal. Some dogs are content to chew on a bone for hours, while others destroy their toys within minutes.
For those with powerful dogs, finding a toy that can withstand some serious chewing is essential.
First and foremost, it needs to be made of durable materials that won’t break or shred easily.
It should also be large enough to discourage your dog from swallowing it whole, but not so large that it’s cumbersome to play with.
And finally, it should be interesting enough to keep your dog’s attention – after all, even the most powerful dog can get bored with a toy if it’s not stimulating.
What To Give Dogs That Are Heavy Chewers?
For dogs that are heavy chewers, it can be tough to find the right toy. They need something that will withstand their powerful jaws, but it also can’t be too hard or they could damage their teeth.
Fortunately, there are a few options that are sure to please even the most enthusiastic chewer.
One popular choice is a rubber Kong toy, which is designed to stand up to vigorous chewing.
Another option is a nylon bone, which is durable and flavorless so your dog won’t get bored with it.
Whichever option you choose, make sure to supervise your dog while they’re playing to ensure that they don’t accidentally ingest any pieces.
With a little trial and error, you’re sure to find the perfect toy for your heavy chewer.
What Toys To Get For A Dog That Destroys Everything?
If your dog is anything like mine, they love to play fetch – but as soon as you throw the ball, they’re already thinking about how to destroy it.
It can be frustrating trying to find toys that will last longer than five minutes, but there are a few things you can look for that will help.
First, make sure the toy is made of durable material – avoid anything plush or soft, as those are usually the first to go.
Second, choose a toy that’s a little too big for your dog to fit in their mouth – this way they won’t be able to get a good grip and destroy it as easily.
And finally, look for toys that have multiple layers or compartments – this way even if your dog does manage to rip through one layer, they’ll still have more to play with.
Although finding tough toys for aggressive chewers is a daunting task, it isn’t impossible. Some of your best resources will also be breed-specific online groups or clubs that can share what works for their dogs.
Good luck, and always keep the safety of your pooch in mind!
