As someone who has had many dogs over the years and worked in the veterinary field for at least a decade, I know how dirty their beds can get.
If it’s not all the hair that accumulates, it’s going to be the drool or sometimes even urine or feces.
There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to remove the cover to wash it, and just having to pitch the whole bed in the trash. What a waste!
Machine Washable Dog Beds Last Longer!
I’ve done hours of research to help narrow down the options available for dog beds with removable covers. Because honestly, there shouldn’t be any other way!
If I spend 75$ or more on a dog bed, it should last more than one pee accident.
Many of them come with a cover that is soft and comfortable, with another inner liner that is waterproof to keep the foam or inner cotton layer moisture free.
Keeping the dog bed from getting wet is the first step in maintaining a fresh and clean smell.
However, it is important to double check before purchasing, not all beds have the super handy waterproof liner.
Under the waterproof liner is the inner core that should either be cotton or memory foam.
Let’s be real, cotton does not make for good support.
So going with a pet bed that has a foam interior should guarantee that it will be more comfortable than just some plain old cotton.

Frequently Asked First Time Dog Owner Questions
While a dog bed may not be a necessity for some people, many first time dog owners want to find a comfortable place for their new friend to sleep.
Besides finding the perfect spot in the home for it, many owners wonder what size and material to get as well.
What size dog bed should I get?
I always say that you should assume you need a larger dog bed than you would expect.
If you really aren’t sure, just check reviews to see if any others say how large their dog is and see if you can compare them to your pet.
What kind of material should the bed be made of?
As far as material is concerned, just find something that seems comfortable. Honestly, dogs aren’t too picky, they will sleep on all kinds of things and not care too much.
As long as it’s soft-ish and cushy, your dog is sure to love it.
If you think that they would appreciate a suede or a fuzzy washable bed then just go with your intuition.
Where should I keep my dog’s bed?
When looking for the perfect spot to rest your dog’s bed, there are usually two places for dog beds.
One is in the bedroom with the owner (or in their crate if that’s where they sleep at night).
The other spot for dog bed is usually in the living room where the family spends time together. This is the best way to keep them off your furniture.
Have a place for them to sit and rest!
