Now there are cameras that have been designed with the specific intention of monitoring pets and their behavior while owners are gone.

Are Pet Cameras Worth It?
I suppose the answer to this depends on you and your pet. There are several features that many owners find beneficial and they also feel that the cameras bring peace of mind as well as convenience to their daily routine.
What are some of the main benefits to having a pet camera?
Many companies and customers say that pet cameras bring a level of safety and fun to their pet’s day, while also easing some separation anxiety and giving owners peace of mind.
Safety
Many owners feel that safety is a leading driver behind why they purchased a pet camera.
The fact that you can constantly watch your pet while you are gone can bring added security to your day.
Elderly or debilitated pets can be monitored, letting their owner see if they are safe.
On the flip side of that, there is the concern with hackers getting access to the camera so they can see and hear what is going on in your house.
While that is super creepy and a definite invasion of privacy, it is always a risk with any technology that has a camera or speaker.
Fun
Pet cameras have been able to bring not only the ability to watch your pet while you are away but now you can also play with them and give them treats.
Some cameras like the Eufy or Furbo pet cams have the ability to toss treats to your dog.
There are also models that have laser pointers that move around to keep your dog or cat entertained.
Helps With Separation Anxiety
As someone who has worked in veterinary medicine for a long time, I’ll tell you that there has been a rise in the number of pets with separation anxiety.
Many of these pets can be destructive or bark excessively because they are upset their owner has left.
Pet cameras allow for owners to monitor their pet and even correct them verbally with the cams speaker.
The models that have a screen for your pet to see you on can also be very calming when your pet has separation anxiety.
I will admit that some dogs or cats are actually bothered by the camera’s speaker projecting a voice and no one for it to be coming from.
They can become confused and even more anxious than they were before.
Peace Of Mind
Peace of mind is the biggest reason that pet owners purchase cameras.
We can spend a lot of time away from home on busy days, and many pet parents worry about what their dog or cat is up to while they are gone.
When you are going on vacation and have a pet sitter coming, it is still nice to have that other option for checking up on your dog or cat while you’re gone.
Being able to keep track of your pets activity as well as your home’s safety is a huge benefit.
So, Are Pet Cameras Really Worth It?
I believe that pet cameras are truly worth it.
You can find one for almost any budget and their benefits are numerous.
Not only can you keep track of your favorite four-legged friend while you are gone at work or on vacation, but also for house safety while you are away.
